Testing Stryver: terms and privacy

Last updated 16 October 2026

This page is for people who sign up to help test Stryver. It has the testing terms first, then how we look after your sign-up details. When you use the app, our full privacy notice and terms of use apply too.

Testing terms

By signing up to test, you agree to these:

  • It’s a test version. It may have bugs, change without warning, lose data or stop working. It’s provided as it is.
  • It’s free, and it can end at any time, for you or for everyone. You can stop whenever you like.
  • It isn’t medical, fitness or safety advice. Do everything within your own limits, and check with a doctor if you’re unsure.
  • Our responsibility is limited. As far as the law allows, Stryver isn’t responsible for losses from using a test version. We don’t exclude liability for injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
  • Testers must be 18 or over. You can add your children inside the app, as My Stryvers.
  • Please don’t post screenshots publicly before launch. Showing friends is fine.
  • We may use your feedback to improve Stryver.
  • Stryver Plus is switched on free while you test.

Who we are

Stryver is run by Stryver Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17522956). Our registered office is 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. We’re the controller of your sign-up details. We’re registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), registration number ZC276054. Contact us using our contact form.

What we keep when you sign up

  • Your first name and email address, and your surname if you give it.
  • Your phone type (iPhone or Android), so we send you the right link.
  • Your age range, if you choose to give it.
  • That you’ve confirmed you’re 18 or over and understand it’s a test version.
  • Whether you’re happy to chat about your feedback.
  • Whether you said yes to screen replays, and when.
  • Which invitation link you used, if you came from someone’s link, and the campaign details of the link you arrived from.

What we use it for

Your sign-up details are used only to run the testing: emailing you about it, sending you the app, switching on Stryver Plus for you, and asking for your feedback. We may quote what you tell us, without your name. You can turn the tips and check-in emails off from the link in any of them, or in the app in Profile › Preferences › Emails › Tips for using Stryver.

We never sell your details or use them for marketing.

Why we can do this: to run the testing you asked to join, and our legitimate interest in improving Stryver.

What we look at, and what we don’t

Nobody at Stryver looks at what you personally log, or when, without your permission. If you ask us to fix a problem, we’ll ask before we look at what’s in your account.

Activity insights. We count how much each account uses Stryver, as totals with your name on them: how often you open the app, and how many logs, activities and Stryves started or finished you have. It shows us what’s working and who our most active testers are. We never look at what you log, or when: the totals have no dates or times. Why we can do this: our legitimate interest in running and improving Stryver. You can turn it off any time in Profile › Preferences › Activity insights: we stop counting, delete your app opens and leave you out. Nothing else changes.

We also look at anonymous patterns across everyone, like what time of day people log or which activities are popular with which age groups. Those never show who logged what.

Usage statistics

Usage statistics while you test note which invitation link you joined through, so we can see how people find their way in.

Screen replays

Screen replays are your choice, and they’re off unless you say yes, by ticking “Help us improve with screen replays” when you sign up, or later in the app.

With your OK, we keep a replay of how you use Stryver: which screens you visit, and where you tap and scroll. It’s rebuilt from the app, not a video, and all text and photos are blanked out, so it never shows your name, what you log or anything you type. We use replays only to learn what’s confusing and make Stryver better for everyone. They’re deleted after 30 days, and you can turn this off any time in Profile (Preferences › Screen replays).

On an iPhone, a small Replay on sign shows at the top of the screen while one is being made. Turning replays off stops them straight away, and if you’d like the ones already made deleted sooner, ask us through our contact form.

Saying no doesn’t change anything else about testing. Replays also stop if you turn off usage statistics or leave the testing group.

Why we can do this: your consent, which you can take back at any time.

Who else is involved

  • A database host stores your sign-up details in the UK.
  • An email delivery service sends our emails.
  • An analytics service (EU) holds usage statistics and, if you said yes, screen replays.
  • Apple (TestFlight) and Google deliver the test app. To invite you, we give them the email address you test with.
  • A survey tool runs the short surveys, if you choose to answer them.

How long we keep it

While you’re in the testing group. If you leave, we delete these sign-up details within 3 months. Your Stryver account is separate: it stays yours unless you delete it.

Leaving

You can leave at any time. Tell us using the contact form or reply to any of our emails. Free Stryver Plus ends when you leave; everything you’ve set up in the app stays.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your details, or object to how we use them, using our contact form. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
